Elemental, suspicious and wondrously avaricious creatures, dragons are the most feared predator of Valiant by anyone and anything. Great serpentine and winged individuals, hatched from eggs, breathing fire and poison and ice, dragons are rarely seen and often avoided by even the bravest hunters.
There are several known species identified by body type, number of legs and skin covering. The two most common are a large, bulky winged dragon covered in scales with four legs and a long, sinuous feathered type with smaller wings and either vestigial or no legs. Dragon eyes are usually red or yellow and slitted like a cat’s regardless of species. Almost all species have a row of dorsal spines or keeled scales. They can be any color and live in any terrain.

Deep in the desert to the east of Kynafir, there are rumors of a race of men with reddened skin. One tale relates a great canal stretching from the sea into the desert to a great city where magic is common and the Gods are reviled. Great wonders are commonplace - beams of colored light striking out to kill a foe, huge flying ships floating far above the sands, spindly towers that meet the sky.
Many of the tales tell of ruins in the desert along the canal as well where great treasures rest guarded by terrible lizards who battle each other day and night. Even the Reptile Folk avoid the area believing it cursed by the desert spirits.

As adapted for Valiant from Art of the Near TPK:
Physical Description: Normal pixies are very small, flying humanoids who look very much like tiny elves.
Ecology: Generally considered benign, this variation is much feared by farming settlements. In times of abundant food, pixies will over-breed and congregate in large numbers. When this happens, they over-eat their usual food sources of honeysuckle, wild berries and dew drops then forming swarms that migrate and strip the land of everything remotely edible.
Once a swarm is formed, it attracts more pixies who then join and increase the size of the group. These can be found anywhere pixies are found from desert scrubland to seaside marsh to high mountain valleys and range in size from a few hundred to several thousand. Swarms travel up to Read More »
